IIQE FAQ
Registration · format · pass mark · licensing — 2026
Q1: Which IIQE papers do I need to pass?
It depends on the licence: general insurance agents must pass Paper I and Paper II; long-term (life) insurance agents must pass Paper I and Paper III; selling investment-linked products additionally requires Paper V. Paper I (Principles & Practice of Insurance) is compulsory for every insurance intermediary.
Q2: What is the IIQE pass mark?
The pass mark is 70% for every paper — that means 53/75 for Paper I, 35/50 for Papers II and III, and 56/80 for Paper V.
Q3: How many questions are there and how long is each paper?
All papers are multiple-choice (MCQ). Paper I has 75 questions in 2 hours; Papers II and III have 50 questions each in 1 hour 15 minutes; Paper V has 80 questions in 2 hours.
Q4: Where is the IIQE held, and how do I register and pay?
The IIQE is administered by the PEAK examination centre. Registration, exam dates, venues and fees are set by PEAK — check the PEAK website for the latest details before registering.
Q5: What language is the IIQE in?
The IIQE is generally offered in both Chinese and English, and candidates may sit it in either language. Confirm the arrangement with PEAK when registering.
Q6: Can I retake the IIQE if I fail?
Yes, you can re-register. Each paper is passed independently, so there is no same-session requirement. Retake arrangements and exam dates are set by PEAK.
Q7: Where can I find IIQE practice questions?
The Insurance Authority (IA) only publishes official Study Notes — there is no official question bank. The PrepLicense app provides 1,100+ bilingual practice questions and 4 mock exam sets, aligned with the official syllabus and with bilingual explanations.
Q8: How do I become a licensed intermediary after passing the IIQE?
After passing the required papers, you must meet the Insurance Authority (IA) "fit and proper" requirements and complete the licence application process to become a licensed insurance intermediary. Exact requirements and procedures are set by the IA.
