Taiwan has four insurance salesperson licences, all under the FSC and delegated to three industry self-regulatory bodies. This page lays out each licence's administering body, exam structure, recommended order and target audience to help you plan your path.

1. LIFE — Life Insurance Salesperson

Administered by: LIA-ROC

Exam structure: 100 regulation MCQs (1 mark each) + 50 practice MCQs (2 marks each); the two papers must total 140 or more with neither below 60

Required to sell life, health and accident insurance products. Usually the first licence new salespeople take.

2. PROP — Property & Casualty Insurance Salesperson

Administered by: NLIA

Exam structure: 100 practice MCQs (1 mark each) + 50 regulation MCQs (2 marks each); the two papers must total 140 or more with neither below 60

Required to sell motor, fire, liability and other property & casualty insurance products.

3. INVL — Investment-Linked Insurance Product Salesperson

Administered by: TII

Exam structure: Session 1 of 50 MCQs + Session 2 of 100 investment-theory MCQs (with computation); Group 1 needs 140 across both sessions with neither below 60, Group 2 passes at 70

Required to sell investment-linked policies. Spans insurance and investment theory — the hardest of the four. Requires an active LIFE registration first.

4. FX — Foreign-Currency Non-Investment-Linked Insurance Salesperson

Exam structure: 50 MCQs, 60 minutes, pass 70

Required to sell foreign-currency policies. Smallest scope, shortest prep. Requires an active LIFE registration first.
