Frequently Asked Questions
Coverage
Which examination does the App cover? The Pre-Contract Examination for Insurance Agents (PCIL) set by the Asian Institute of Insurance (Aii), Malaysia — Part A Fundamentals of Insurance (chapters A1–A6), Part C Life Insurance (C1–C6) and Part D Investment-Linked (D1–D9).
Does it cover the general insurance examination? No. The general insurance examination is a separate paper with its own syllabus.
Question bank scope? 800 questions in total — 500 practice questions plus a 300-question mock bank, across all three parts. Mock exams mirror the real paper: 100 questions, 120 minutes, pass mark 50%, drawn per chapter.
Which languages? English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese — every question, option and explanation in all three. Switch at any time from Settings.
What do the explanations cite? Each explanation names the provision it tests — the Financial Services Act 2013, the Bank Negara Malaysia policy document on investment-linked business (2023), the Bank Negara Malaysia policy document on medical and health insurance/takaful business, or the LIAM Code of Practice, among others — so the answer can be checked against the source.
Are these "real exam" questions? No. The examination is proctored and its items are not published. All questions are original content written to the published syllabus.
The Exam
Format? One paper of 100 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours: Part A 40, Part C 30, Part D 30. Delivered by remote proctoring in English, Bahasa Malaysia or Chinese. Fees, dates and eligibility are set by Aii — see the current details on the Aii website.
Pass mark? 50% of the paper as a whole.
Fee? RM160, set by Aii and subject to change.
Am I exempt? No. From 8 August 2024 all exemptions were removed; every new life insurance agent must pass.
