NY Notary Exam Prep
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the NY Notary Exam Prep mobile application ("the App") developed by Sai Chun Christopher Tang ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
1. Description of Service
The App is an independent study tool designed to help users prepare for the New York Notary Public examination. The App provides original practice questions, a mock exam, analytics, and study aids.
2. New York Only
The App covers New York notary law exclusively. Notary law is state law: requirements, fees, identification rules, and certificate wording differ from state to state. The App will not prepare you for the notary examination of any other state, and it should not be relied on for notarial practice outside New York.
3. Not Official Exam Material
The App is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or associated with the New York Department of State, which administers the examination. All questions are 100% original content, authored in our own words from the Notary Public License Law booklet published by the New York Department of State and the statutes it reprints. The App does NOT reproduce, mirror, or scrape any portion of the actual examination item bank, which is not public. We do not guarantee that using the App will result in passing any examination.
4. Not Legal Advice
Nothing in the App is legal advice. A notary public may not give advice about legal documents or matters; neither may a study aid. The App explains what New York law requires of a notary public so that you can answer examination questions about it. For advice about a particular document or transaction, consult an attorney.
5. Currency of the Law
The New York Department of State revises the Notary Public License Law booklet periodically, and the Legislature amends the underlying statutes. Content is written against the edition current at the time of publication and updated when a new edition is issued. Always verify against the current official License Law booklet before relying on any answer for professional purposes.
6. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases
The App offers auto-renewable subscriptions and a one-time purchase to unlock premium features:
- Monthly subscription — US$9.99/month, auto-renews each month
- Annual subscription — US$39.99/year, auto-renews each year
- Lifetime — US$59.99, a single non-renewing purchase
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price.
You can manage and cancel your subscriptions by going to your Account Settings on the App Store after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Actual prices follow localized App Store pricing for your region; please refer to the App Store for the current price.
7. Free Tier
The App offers limited free access, including a subset of practice questions. Premium features require a purchase.
8. Intellectual Property
All content in the App, including questions, explanations, graphics, and design, is owned by us or licensed to us. Excerpts of New York statutes and of the Notary Public License Law booklet are quoted for identification and study purposes; those source materials are works of the State of New York. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the App's content without our written permission.
9. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Distribute, sell, or share App content, including screenshots of questions
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that the content is completely accurate or current with the latest edition of the Notary Public License Law booklet.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to examination results, commissioning decisions, or any notarial act performed in reliance on the App's content.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The "Last Updated" date above indicates when the Terms were last modified.
13. Apple Standard EULA
In addition to these Terms, your use of the App is also governed by the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA).
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
15. Privacy
Your use of the App is also subject to our Privacy Policy.
