Taiwan Insurance Salesperson Exam FAQ

LIFE · PROP · INVL · FX — Registration · Pass Mark · Licensing — 2026

Q1: Who runs the Taiwan Insurance Salesperson exams? Which licences do I need?

The Insurance Salesperson Qualifying Tests are run by industry self-regulatory bodies under FSC delegation: LIFE (life insurance) and FX (foreign-currency non-investment-linked insurance) are administered by LIA-ROC (壽險公會); PROP (property & casualty) is administered by NLIA (產險公會); INVL (investment-linked insurance products) is administered by TII (保發中心). To sell or market any insurance product you must first pass the corresponding qualifying test and register with the relevant association.

Q2: Question count, time limit and pass mark per licence?

LIFE: 100 regulations + 50 practice = 150 single-answer MCQs, pass 70. PROP: 100 practice + 50 regulations = 150 single-answer MCQs, pass 70. INVL: 50 investment-linked + financial system + 100 investment theory (includes calculation) = 150 questions, pass 70. FX: 50 single-answer MCQs, 60 minutes, pass 70. Always verify the current time limit and scoring rules on the administering body's latest announcement.

Q3: Which licence should I take first?

Most candidates start with LIFE (largest market, broadest career application), then add others by job need: PROP for property & casualty, INVL for investment-linked policies, FX for foreign-currency policies. INVL and FX registration generally requires holding LIFE first.

Q4: How hard are the INVL calculation questions?

INVL's second section, Investment Theory, includes present/future value, bond yield, mutual-fund performance, CAPM, Sharpe ratio and other calculation questions — the hardest of the four licences. PrepLicense (台試通) provides full step-by-step working in bilingual explanations; all 447 calculation questions have been independently re-verified with Python.

Q5: What does the PrepLicense Taiwan app cover?

All four licences (LIFE / PROP / INVL / FX) with 3,500+ original bilingual questions and mock exams. Questions are written against the current Insurance Act, Insurance Salesperson Management Rules, product-sale notices and model policy provisions, with bilingual explanations and statutory citations. Mock exams use a "mirror-real-exam-mix" sampling pattern (e.g. LIFE mock = 150 questions sampled in the official regulations/practice ratio).

Q6: Where do I register? Where are the exam dates and fees?

Registration, dates and fees follow each administering association's official site: LIFE / FX → LIA-ROC website; PROP → NLIA website; INVL → TII website. Registration is usually online.

Q7: Can I retake the exam? How long do I have to register after passing?

Each licence can be retaken with no cap on retakes (re-pay and re-book each time). After passing, your employing insurance company (principal) must register you with the relevant association before you may sell or market that line of insurance product. Deadlines and procedures follow each association's rules.

Q8: Where do the questions come from? Are they legal to use?

Taiwan's four insurance salesperson qualifying tests do not publicly release past papers. All questions in PrepLicense are 100% original and pool-independent — written against the current Insurance Act, Insurance Salesperson Management Rules, product-sale notices, model policy provisions and other public regulatory text. They are not past-paper reproductions.
