Taiwan Real Estate Broker Exam FAQ

Registration · Subjects · Pass mark · Format — 2026

Q1: Who can sit the Taiwan Real Estate Broker Examination?

Anyone who has completed senior high school (vocational high school) or holds an equivalent qualification can register. There is no restriction on academic major.

Q2: How many times a year is the exam held? When does registration open?

The exam is held once a year, administered by the Ministry of Examination (考選部). Registration typically opens around August with the exam in November. Exact dates follow the Ministry's annual announcement.

Q3: How many subjects are there? What does it cover?

Five subjects in total: Chinese Composition (國文 作文) plus four professional subjects — Civil Code Outline (民法概要), Real Estate Valuation Outline (不動產估價概要), Land Law and Land-Related Tax Law Outline (土地法與土地相關稅法概要), and Real Estate Brokerage Regulations Outline (不動產經紀相關法規概要).

Q4: Is the exam multiple-choice or essay?

Mixed format. Chinese Composition is essay-only. Every professional subject combines essay questions and multiple-choice questions — so every paper has both an MCQ section and an essay section.

Q5: How is the pass mark calculated?

Overall pass is an aggregate score of 60 or above (Chinese Composition weighted at 10%). However, scoring 0 on any subject, or averaging under 50 across the professional subjects, disqualifies you even if your total reaches 60. There is no quota — anyone meeting the standard passes.

Q6: What does the PrepLicense Taiwan app cover?

The app focuses on the multiple-choice portion of the four professional subjects: 500+ practice questions, mock exams and progress analytics, with bilingual (English / Traditional Chinese) explanations. Chinese Composition and the essay sections of each subject are not in scope and need separate preparation.

Q7: What is the pass rate?

Pass rates fluctuate. 2024 (民國 113) was around 18%; 2025 (民國 114) dropped to about 6% as paper difficulty rose. Because passing is criterion-based (≥60), the keys to a reliable pass are mastering the MCQ sections and avoiding any zero-score subject.

Q8: Where do the questions come from? Are they legal to use?

Questions are sourced from past papers publicly released on the Ministry of Examination's "Past Examination Papers Search" platform (考畢試題查詢平臺). Under Taiwan copyright law, statutorily administered examination papers are not protected by copyright and may be freely used. All explanations in the app are original.
